The State of Florida requires that anyone wishing to become an Armed Security officer or an Armed Private investigator or Intern to obtain a Class "D" security License or Class "C" or "CC" Private Investigators License and a Class "G" Statewide Firearms License. A Class "G" Statewide Firearms license allows Security Officer or Investigator to carry a firearm while preforming security or investigative duties in the State of Florida. This license does NOT allow an individual to carry a firearm either openly or concealed while not on duty.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course consists of three days starting with Legal. In this section you will learn about Florida Statutes 493, 760 and 790 with topics ranging from training and application requirements all the way up to Legal Use of force, Stand Your Ground law and discussion of scenarios. Moving on to Firearms Safety and familiarization, loading and unloading, Fundamentals of Marksmanship and Firearms Malfunctions and Maintenance. Finally a review and a 50 question State exam. Only 1 attempt is allowed to pass the exam with a minimum score of 70%. Next is range day and practical application of fundamentals and live fire qualification. Each cycle of fire will consist of 48 rounds of ammunition. A minimum score of 168 out of a possible 240 points is required to pass. All students must pass both the Exam and Range Qualification to pass the course. Certificate of Firearms Proficiency will be email within 3 business days after completion of the course.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
A duty type firearm that holds at least 12 rounds of ammunition. If you do not own a suitable firearm one can be provided. An outside the waist band holster, No concealed carry holsters. A belt that will hold your holster, 3 magazines that hold at least 12 rounds of ammunition, holders recommended. Range appropriate attire including a ballcap. Closed toed shoes, No crocs, sandals, slides or flip flops. NO tank tops, low cut or sleeveless shirts. NO sweat pants, sweat shorts, athletic type short, yoga pants or jeggings. Shorts are Ok as long as they accept a belt, cargo type shorts and pants are best. Eye and Ear protection are available however you may bring your own.
COURSE PREREQUISITES
To apply for a Class "G" Statewide Firearms license you must be at least 18 years of age. You must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent legal resident alien. Submit proof that you satisfactorily completed this course. In order to be issued a Class "G" Statewide Firearms License you must have or be also applying for a Class "D", "C", "CC", "M", "MA", or "MB" license. No previous firearm experience is necessary to attend this course although helpful.
